A different starting point

Being understood comes first.
Learning can grow from there.

For some young people, learning needs a different setting, a gentler pace or a trusted person alongside them. We make room for that.

How we can help

Support that fits
the individual.

We’re developing a small, personal service with sessions in the home and community. From early learning to adult life skills, we discuss each enquiry individually to find the right fit.

SEN mentoring

A consistent, encouraging relationship built around the individual. Suzi draws on experience supporting autistic learners and students with PDA to help build confidence, express needs and work towards personal goals.

Trust · Confidence · Connection

GCSE English & literacy

Suzi specialises in GCSE English, helping young people outside mainstream education work towards GCSE-level learning. She also brings experience supporting reading, handwriting and learners with dyslexia.

English · Reading · Handwriting

Life skills & community mentoring

Practical experiences that build confidence and independence: ordering food, managing everyday responsibilities and prescriptions, or finding a local group to join. Activities are agreed around the person’s interests and goals.

Independence · Participation · Everyday skills

Our approach

Small steps.
Meaningful progress.

There is no single route that works for everyone. We start by listening, then shape support around what matters to the young person.

  1. Listen and understand

Talk with the young person and the people who know them. Understand their strengths, interests and what makes learning difficult.

  2. Find the right starting point

Agree realistic goals and a suitable setting, with time to develop trust and make sessions feel manageable.

  3. Build on each step

Notice what is working, recognise progress and adapt as confidence and needs change.

The people behind Daylight

A few useful answers

Wondering where
to start?

Who is the support for?

We welcome enquiries for children from age five, young people and adults who would benefit from personalised mentoring or learning support, particularly those with special educational needs. There is no fixed upper age limit. We consider each enquiry individually to understand whether our experience and approach are a suitable fit.

Where do sessions take place?

Our initial focus is one-to-one sessions in young people’s homes and suitable community settings in Selsey, Chichester and the surrounding area. The location and activities are agreed around the young person’s needs.

Who can arrange support?

Parents can contact us directly about private support. We also welcome enquiries from schools, local authorities and other professionals about tuition, mentoring and alternative provision arrangements. Suitability, availability, fees and any commissioning requirements are discussed before support is agreed.

What happens after I enquire?

We start with a conversation about the support you are looking for, the young person’s interests and needs, and what you hope to achieve. You do not need to have everything worked out before contacting us.

Let’s talk
